Pete Fraser Visit

Peter Frasers Tips:
Pete Fraser came into school to talk to the media students about how to do well in this years exam. These were the tips he gave us:

Jake Wynne:
One of Pete Fraser's old media students also came to talk to us. Jake Wynne has worked in Commercials and Music Videos for many years. He was an editor for the Spice Girls video- 'Say you'll be there'.

He gave us some very useful tips about making music videos but also about his career and breaking into the media industry. He talked to each group and our ideas for our music video. Sophie, Frankie and I told him the idea for our video and he told us that we will need a lot of cuts in it but to not introduce too many quick cuts or effects from the starts as it needs to build up throughout the song.

Robbie Williams Filming Task:
He created a fun task for us where we had to recreate the music video for the Robbie Williams song 'Let Me Entertain You'. We got into character by putting on similar make up to in the video and we took roles of one of the various camera men, guitarists, backing singers, drummers or Robbie. This was very fun as we could just let loose and have a good sing and dance in front of the cameras. I also enjoyed the filming because it made me very focused on keeping the camera steady and capturing essential parts of the performance.
He taught us to have multiple cameras rolling at the same time while performing the whole length of the song because this saves having an unnecessary amount of shots for the editor to sort through. It also allows for the editor to cut back and forward to different parts of the performance seamlessly which makes it look professional. We had a main camera, placed on a tripod in the centre which was focusing on 'Robbie'. There were cameras at the sides focusing on the backing singers, drummer and guitarists. Plus, there was someone operating a camera by sitting on a wheeled chair and having someone push them across the floor to get fast, swooping, panning shots. This was a great technique which we can use in our music videos.
We also had a go at editing all the footage we got from this task to create the music video but with multiple different performers.
